Following the symbolic handover of the WA700-8E0 to the customer, Heinrich Hecker KG, at Bauma 2025, the machine has now been handed over at the site where it will be used. The handover included not only the WA700, but also four HD605-8E0 dump trucks, which will be used in a quarry.
Tradition and innovation at the family-run business Hecker
The family-run business Heinrich Hecker KG has been operating in the region’s quarries since the early 1950s and has also built a first-class reputation as a manufacturer of specialist vehicles. Heinrich Hecker increasingly specialised in the internal transport of stone within the cement industry. Under the second generation, the company – which had initially operated on a more regional basis – was expanded and is now active in quarries throughout Germany. Its range of services includes transport, loading and recultivation work. With Clemens Hecker, the third generation has taken on a leading role in the family business and moved into the current company headquarters in Anröchte in 2009.
Investment in efficiency: WA700-8E0 wheel loader and four HD605-8E0 dump trucks
Before finalising the order, Thomas Schlüter Sr. and Clemens Hecker visited the Komatsu plant in Ibaraki, Japan, where the machines are manufactured. There, the managing director of Heinrich Hecker KG had the opportunity to test the machine and see for himself just how capable the wheel loader is. With an engine output of 578 kW / 775 hp, a bucket capacity of up to 10.3 m³ and a tipping load of 68.4 tonnes, the wheel loader offers maximum productivity and extreme durability. With an operating weight of over 97 tonnes, it also impresses with its robust construction, excellent safety features, low emissions and a spacious, ergonomically designed cab. More than a century of experience in quarries and mining has gone into the development of the machine.
In addition to the WA700-8E0, four HD605-8E0 dump trucks were also purchased, which together form a high-performance fleet for use in the quarry. Thanks to the latest engine technology and increased power, the HD605-8 models offer maximum productivity at minimum operating costs. The dump trucks boast an engine output of 578 kW / 778 hp, with a payload of 63 tonnes. The driving speed can be limited independently for loaded and empty journeys. The machine is loaded by the WA700 in four loading cycles.
Smart Quarry Site: Intelligent fleet management for maximum productivity
Particular attention has been paid not only to technical but also to digital components. The ‘Smart Quarry Site’ system has been installed in the machines. This fleet management system provides a real-time overview of the movements and condition of all machines, enabling increased productivity and fuel efficiency. The focus is on the following seven key areas: safety, site management, production, machine condition, maintenance, fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. Smart Quarry Site provides real-time data, thereby identifying areas for improvement and bottlenecks. This allows safety and productivity to be increased whilst simultaneously reducing operating costs in the long term.
Three decades of trust and successful collaboration
The purchase of this machine package was not Heinrich Hecker KG’s first order from Schlüter Baumaschinen GmbH. The partnership with Schlüter Baumaschinen has been in place for over 30 years and began with the purchase of a PC650-5. Clemens Hecker emphasises that this long-standing partnership is based on quick response times, high availability, trust built up over two generations, and close cooperation. The Schlüter branch responsible for the account is the Gröbers branch, with Customer Service Manager Martin Meurer. Thomas Schlüter Sr. also emphasises with regard to maintenance and repairs: “Our work is only just beginning.” He wishes Clemens Hecker every success with this major project and thanks him for the collaborative partnership.
