Olpe. A new Komatsu PC220LC-12 from Schlüter Baumaschinen GmbH is assisting Gebr. Schmidt Bauunternehmen AG with the expansion of the Hüppcherhammer intermunicipal business park. The latest generation of this hydraulic excavator impresses in daily use with its state-of-the-art technologies and sets new standards in comfort, ergonomics, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

This medium-sized, family-run company was founded in 1967 and today employs more than 250 experienced staff, primarily in the fields of earthworks, civil engineering, road construction, water infrastructure, and landfill construction. In the future, projects in the renewable energy sector and land development will become increasingly important.
The company has an extensive fleet of machinery, including approximately 20 Komatsu machines. Among them are a PC220LC-12 and a PC220LCi-12, both of which are being used in the work on the Hüppcherhammer intermunicipal industrial park in Olpe. The development of the approximately 150,000 m² commercial site will take place between June 2025 and December 2026.

In particular, the machine’s performance and modern technology have impressed both management and the machine operator. The operator especially highlights the high level of comfort in the cab, the integrated scale, and the machine’s centimeter-precise control system. With more than 30 years of professional experience, he is also impressed by the PC220LC-12’s ease of operation and fuel efficiency. In terms of electronic controls, he says it is the best machine he has ever operated.
