OGM – Operator Guidance Monitor – New innovative operational data acquisition system with driver assistance for Komatsu rigid-frame dump trucks

The OGM Operator Guidance Monitor system developed by Komatsu sets new standards in operational data acquisition. Designed specifically for Komatsu rigid-frame dump trucks, it represents an innovative hardware and software solution.
The system aims to optimize machine utilization through active driver assistance. In addition, data is digitally transmitted in near real time, enabling progress in the production process and machine utilization to be viewed via online dashboards.

First OGM system successfully integrated at the MHI Hildfeld site

Together with the MHI Group, the innovative OGM system was integrated for the first time at the MHI site in Hildfeld on an HD605-8E0 and has been in use for several months. MHI relies on the smart technologies and services of the new system for its operations. By using the predefined performance targets, production has already been increased, and machine utilization has been optimized. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the MHI Group for the trust placed in us and for this joint project.

Optimal machine utilization with the OGM Operator Guidance Monitor

The operations manager independently defines the performance specifications (KPI – Key Performance Indicator) for different transport routes. These are displayed to the driver on the in-cab tablet. After each cycle, feedback appears on the tablet showing whether the performance targets have been met. Driving speed can also be specified. If the limit is exceeded, a warning message is displayed and an acoustic signal is emitted. This direct feedback analysis helps the driver to always operate the haul truck optimally and safely.

In addition to driver assistance, the data is also digitally transmitted in near real time and made available to the office as a KPI report via an online dashboard. Remote access enables up-to-date insights into the progress of the production process as well as mass flow tracking, with filtering by date, machine, and area of operation.

The goal of the OGM operational data acquisition system is to optimize machine utilization by reducing fuel consumption, increasing safety, and improving productivity per driver/machine.
