Komatsu aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To reach this goal, the company has been developing various electric models equipped with lithium-ion batteries since 2021. One of these new electric models is the PC210LCE, which was already on display at Bauma 2022. We are very pleased to have received the first PC210LCE in Germany at our headquarters in Erwitte.
Within a few days, our technicians equipped the crawler excavator with the 3D-MG machine control system and an Oilquick quick-coupler, preparing it for its first customer deployment. This is a demonstration machine that we are using to launch a pilot project with several customers and to test the machine.
On Monday, February 12, 2024, the PC210LCE will be put into service for the first time at one of our customers’ sites. The electric machine will then continue to be used as a rental machine on a wide variety of construction sites with diverse working conditions. This will not only allow customers to experience the machine’s environmental friendliness and safe operation firsthand, but Komatsu and we will also benefit from the experiences and insights that customers gain while using the machine on-site. This feedback is particularly valuable for shaping the long-term expansion of the market for electric construction machinery.
The built-in batteries ensure an exceptionally comfortable working experience. Thanks to its eco-friendly technology, this fully electric machine produces zero exhaust emissions. This makes it ideal for use on a wide variety of construction sites—from interior finishing and piping work to construction projects in urban areas. The fact that the machine operates virtually silently also offers tremendous added value. This reduces disruptive noise and ensures clear communication between the operator and colleagues on the job site at all times. The high-performance lithium-ion batteries guarantee long operating times, and in terms of digging performance and durability, the electric machine is in no way inferior to its predecessor model with a combustion engine.
