New Sennebogen electric material handler with special undercarriage design for Valet u. Ott GmbH & Co.KG

Freiberg. Schlüter for Construction Equipment delivered a new Sennebogen 835 electric material handler to Freiberg. Valet u. Ott GmbH & Co. KG handles tons of bulk materials in Freiberg harbour. Thanks to its electric drive, the 835 Elektro not only impresses with its low operating costs, but also with its special rail portal undercarriage, which, at the customer's request, was specifically adapted to the rails already in place in the port.
Valet & Ott Group: A medium-sized family business with a long tradition

In 1926, the company’s founders August Valet and August Ott laid the foundation for the medium-sized family business Valet und Ott with the first gravel plant in Freiberg on the river Neckar. The Valet u. Ott Group operates gravel plants producing high-quality concrete aggregates and road construction materials in Baden-Wuerttemberg and Saxony. Its focus is on the production of high-quality gravel, chippings, and sand products.

In addition to its products, the company offers its customers a wide range of services and is now established as a service provider in logistics, construction material monitoring and structural investigations, structural and civil engineering, concrete pumping and as collection point for uncontaminated excavation material. In total, Valet u. Ott GmbH & Co. KG employs almost 250 people at a variety of locations. Its headquarters are in Freiberg on the Neckar, where approx. 150,000 tonnes of material are delivered by ship each year – and numbers are still rising. Total turnover lies at around 300,000 tonnes.

The Sennebogen 835 Elektro: the environmentally friendly powerhouse for efficient port handling

At Valet u. Ott GmbH & Co. KG in Freiberg, the 835 Elektro by Sennebogen is used for the loading and unloading of ships and for material handling, including truck loading. Thanks to its 200kW electric motor, the handling excavator combines high power with low consumption, ensuring fast work cycles during loading and unloading - thus saving money while being environmentally friendly! Its robust design, featuring particularly low-wear and durable machine components, make the 835 Elektro from Sennebogen a proper expert for continuous operation, avoiding extended downtimes.

Moreover, the electric excavator is particularly easy to maintain. The E-series installation at the rear of the superstructure ensures easy and safe access to the electric components. In addition, a non-slip step surface protects the machine operator from accidents during maintenance work.

Specially equipped rail undercarriage for existing grinding rails in the harbour

The undercarriage of the Sennebogen 835 Elektro at Valet u. Ott GmbH & Co.KG is an exceptional feature, specifically tailored to the needs of the Freiberg-based family business. A hydraulically driven rail undercarriage of the 835 E series was selected and adapted to the track width of the rails to enable the machine to move on the existing conductor rails in the harbour. To accommodate the existing electrical box for controlling the sliding contacts, the undercarriage of the electric excavator was equipped with cut-outs and a bracket. Schlüter for Construction Equipment’s customer service specialists carried out the mechanical connection between the rails and the excavator.

Marco Moradian, in charge of the Freiberg site: “One of the main reasons for the acquisition of the electric excavator was the adapted rail undercarriage. We had massive problems before, and other manufacturers could not provide a satisfactory solution."

Systemnutzung … Our System – Your Benefit

The Sennebogen 835 Elektro has now been in service at the port of Valet u. Ott GmbH & Co. KG for almost three years. Marco Moradian is more than happy with the machine: “Before purchasing, we looked at several products, and Sennebogen had the machine that convinced us the most. In addition to the adaptation to our rail gantry, we also had a few special requirements in terms of outreach and lifting capacity, and the 835 Elektro from Sennebogen was the machine that fitted best."
